  1. 1.  Philip Cornelis LOOTS was born about 1764 in Paardekloof, Swellendam; died in 1819 in Kruidfontein.

    Philip Cornelis Loots gebore in Swellendam distrik op die plaas Paardekloof, langs die Breërivier. Hy is op Swellendam gedoop op 12/4/1764. Hoewel hy 'n tyd lank saam met sy vader op Blaauwwater, aan die voet van die Voor Sneeuwberg gebly het, het hy by sy tante en oupa in die Paarl gebly waar hy skool gegaan het. Hy keer 'n klein rukkie terug na Blaauwwater, maar het nie in boerdery belanggestel nie. Hy het as transportryer, handelaar opgetree en was op een tydstip ook 'n grootwildjagter. Dit is miskien die rede hoekom hy niks van sy vader geërf het nie. Hy trou na sy vader se dood op 19/2/1792 met Anna Maria Meijer, dogter van Johannes Jurgen Meijer van Kruidfontein. Sy vrou en kinders het op Kruidfontein, die plaas van sy skoonvader, gebly. Die eiendom het later oorgegaan na sy swaer, Johannes Jurgen Meijer. Na hulle vader se dood in 1819 het die twee seuns, Johannes Jurgen en Philippus Cornelis Petrus hulle waens gepak en noordwaarts getrek tot aan die Rietrivier. Hier het hulle gejag, ivoor, velle en ander produkte by jag-ters gekoop en dit weer aan die Kaap verkoop. Hierdie bedrywighede is voortgesit tussen 1820 tot ongeveer 1835. Die twee broers het alles altyd saam gedoen.


    Vanaf 1835 het hulle hul transportroetes begin wysig. Hout is opgekoop in die Knysna omgewing en dan met ossewaens na Graaff-Reinet en Beaufort-Wes vervoer en daar verkoop. Dit was ver afstande wat hierdie hout, bestaande hoofsaaklik uit geelhout planke, vervoer moes word. Daar is gedink aan halfwegstasies waar die waens herstel kon word en waar vars trekosse van tyd tot tyd verkry kon word. Die vrouens moes 'n vaste woonplek kry, want hulle kon nie met die kinders op die togte meegaan nie. Aanvanklik is die plaas Leeuwkloof in die Willowmore gebied bekom. Dit het as halfwegstasie en rusplek gedien in hulle togte tussen Kaapstad en die noorde. Later is ook die twee aangrensende plase Bosjesmanspoort en Paardepoort, net oos van Willowmore, bekom om as halfwegstasie tussen Knysna, Graaff-Reinet en Uitenhage te dien. Hy sit sy transportryery, jag- en smoustogte voort en neem later sy twee seuns op die togte mee. Hy sterf in 1819 op die plaas Kruidfontein.

    As jong seun het hy sy vader op sy ruiltogte en jagtogte vergesel. Later het hy en sy broer Philippus saam met hulle vader die besigheid bedryf. Hulle het selfs aan die Rietrivier 'n soort halfwegstasie of handelspos bedryf waar jagters en trekboere voorraad kon bekom.


    Hy trou in 1815 met Anna Catharina Botha op Beaufort Wes. Sy is op 29/7/1796 op die plaas Grootfontein, distrik itenhage gebore as dogter van Willem Jacobus Botha en Johanna Fransina Roos.



    Johannes en sy broer Philippus koop later die plaas Leeuwkloof in die Willowmore gebied as halfwegstasie na die noorde. Hier was vars trekosse aangehou en het die vrouens en kinders oorgebly. Nog later koop hy en sy broer ook die twee aanliggende plase Bosjesmanspoort en Paardepoort buite Willowmore vir dieselfde doel.


    Sy vrou Anna Catharina sterf op Bosjesmanspoort op 9 November 1865. Sy was 69 jaar oud. Na haar dood trek hulle enigste oorlewende twee seuns, Johannes George en Willem Jacobus noordwaarts en vestig hulle in die Marico en Rustenburg distrikte respektiewelik. Johannes is eers veertien jaar na sy vrou Anna oorlede. Op 2 November 1879 sterf hy op Bosjesmanspoort aan huis van sy skoonseun Philippus Cornelis Petrus. Op sy sterfkennis staan dat hy vol 85 Jaar oud was. Sy transportpad het tot 'n einde gekom.

    Patrick Henry (Hendrik) Loots gebore 6/3/1860 op Bosjesmanspoort, oorlede 6/7/1917 op Goedgelegen Marico, met malaria komplikasies na 'n besoek aan wat tans bekend staan as Ellisras.


    Ontvang 'n goeie onderrig as kind. Op twaalfjarige ouderdom gaan werk hy saam met 'n landmeter op Kimberley. Sluit in 1880 by sy ouers op Jacobsdal, naby Zeerust aan. Hymeet besproeiingskanale uit en doen onderverdeling van grond. In 1896 meet hy die Samekomsdam in die Maricorivier se kanale uit en hou ook toesig oor die bou van die kanale.


    Maak saam met Kommandant Daantjie Botha en Genl. Lemmer by President Kruger beswaar teen die dreigende oorlog. Hy veg dwarsdeur die oorlog onder Genl. de la Rey en Genl. Smuts.



    Hy behartig vanaf 1896 tot 1904 sy broer Philippus Cornelis Petrus se boerdery op Schuinsdrift terwyl hy met transportryery in die noorde besig was.In Desember 1916 haal twee ou inwoners van Marico, wat toe langs die Magolrivier woon, nl. Jan Lee en Koos Geldenhuys hom oor om grond langs die Magolrivier in Noord-Waterberg te koop. Tydens 'n besoek aan die Magolrivier doen hy malaria op, wat later in swartwaterkoors verander en hy sterf op Goedgelegen, Marico.


    Tydens die slag van Majuba ontmoet hy Kommandant Marthinus Geyser, van Waterberg. Die nooi hom om sekere opmetings by hom te kom doen. Hy ontmoet en trou tydens die besoek die twintigjarige blouoog, voshaar, dogter van die kommandant, nl. Maria Elizabeth Geyser, gebore 15/10/1866 naby Nylstroom, oorlede 25/2/1942 op Ellisras.
